First 5G-ACIA workshop in Frankfurt is a big success

At the beginning of June 2018, the members of the 5G Alliance for Connected Industries and Automation (5G-ACIA) invited visitors to join them to discuss the opportunities and challenges that 5G presents for industry. There was a huge interest in the global initiative’s first workshop, with more than 30 invited organisations and around 70 participants coming along to find out about the benefits of 5G for the implementation of Industrie 4.0.

The workshop aimed to incorporate the opinions of all those, across all branches of industry, who will play an important role in the future industrial use of 5G. In this way, the 5G-ACIA intends to constantly increase its membership base and mobilise all market players along the value chain – from the ICT sector to equipment suppliers and even end users in industry.

The global initiative, which officially began its work to coincide with the Hannover Messe in April 2018, is rapidly expanding. Today, the initiative already has more than 30 members from China, Europe, Japan, Korea and the USA. Although many of the workshop participants came from Europe, there were also representatives from South Korea and China. This shows how important it is to work together on a global level from the outset to make 5G industry-compatible and incorporate industry requirements into the international standardisation committees.
